Crafting

Inscription

Inscription is the caster support craft. It makes the parchment every scroll wants, and at the top it makes Inscribed Spellbooks that raise the damage of every offensive spell you cast. A mage who has never touched it is casting at a permanent discount to what they could be.

How you train it Press parchment from boards, then move on to the spellbook recipes.
What you need An active Writer's Quill, and boards from Carpentry.

Runes and the books that hold them

A Recall Rune is bought from any Mage Shop, not scribed โ€” what a scribe makes is the scroll that teaches the spell, and the books that file the runes away. Every cost below is base-tier Wood Parchment; the tier ladder does not apply here, the volume is the point.

SkillItemCostWhat it does
45.0Scroll of Recall10 Wood Parchment + 1ร— Black Pearl, 1ร— Blood Moss, 1ร— Mandrake RootRead into a spellbook to learn Recall, or bind into a Runetome as one charge. The only spell scroll that cannot be ground back into dust.
50.0Runebook250 Wood Parchment + 100 Arcane DustHolds 10 runes, each with its own Recall button.
100.0Runetome1,000 Wood Parchment + 500 Arcane DustHolds 30 runes and banks up to 50 Recall charges. A charge travels without spending reagents.
๐Ÿชจ
Recalling from a page is still casting the spell: it wants the mana, the reagents, 30 Magery and a spellbook that knows Recall. The book only saves you hunting through your pack for the right stone. Spend a Runetome charge instead and the reagents are waived โ€” everything else is still owed.
๐Ÿ”–
A book must be ON you to travel from it. One in your bank still opens and can be tidied, but its Recall buttons go quiet โ€” the same rule your reagents have always followed. A Bless Deed from the Virtue Shop will keep a book, and every rune inside it, through death.

Tomes

Grandmaster work: 95 Inscription, and the same base-tier Wood Parchment by the thousand. Each one swallows a whole category of clutter that would otherwise eat your pack and your bank. A Tome can be locked down in your house, unlike a rune book โ€” there is nothing to cast off it, so nothing is lost by putting it on the floor.

A Tome binding can fail, and it takes the pages with it. Raw skill alone will not move it: the odds sit at 40% anywhere from the 95 gate up to 100 โ€” so the average Tome costs closer to 2,500 Wood Parchment than the 1,000 on the label. Gear is the only answer: the roll reads EFFECTIVE Inscription, and at 120 it reaches 80%. Bind with your best quill and band on.

The Rite Binder

The one thing a scribe makes that has nothing to do with casting. Cryptic Texts turn up on the dead in the dungeons, and a binder presses seven of one kind into a volume that can be read. Base-tier Wood Parchment again โ€” the volume is the point, not the tier.

SkillItemCostWhat it does
60.0Rite Binder100 Wood Parchment1 Crafting LaceBinds 7 Cryptic Texts of one kind into a volume you can read. Pressing the texts never fails, and it spends the press along with the pages.
โš ๏ธ
Making the press is the part that can fail, and it is the expensive part. At exactly 60 Inscription it is a coin flip โ€” half the time the lace parts and takes the 100 pages with it. Since a boss only answers a summons once a week per character, that is a week gone. Reaching 100 takes it to 95%; the roll reads EFFECTIVE Inscription, so a good quill and a band count toward it. Press your luck at 60 only if you can spare the lace.
๐Ÿงต
Crafting Lace is the half you cannot scribe: it comes off the bosses at 10% a kill, and any boss will do โ€” the cheapest one you can field pays the same lace as the deepest. Since a boss can only be summoned once a week per character, the lace, not the parchment, is what decides how many binders you ever make.
๐Ÿ“–
At 100 Inscription every offensive spell you cast lands 10% harder, permanently. A mage who skipped this is casting at a discount.
โš—๏ธ
That same milestone grinds every spell scroll in your pack to dust automatically. Scrolls of Recall are the one exception โ€” they are exempt, so a stack you scribed to charge a Runetome survives.
๐Ÿ“ˆ
Everything on this page trains Inscription, and it trains in proportion to the parchment it spends โ€” a 250-sheet Runebook teaches 250 times what a single sheet does. So there is no "training recipe" to grind and no penalty for making the thing you actually wanted; whatever you scribe, reaching Grandmaster costs the same parchment in the end. Binding by hand out of your pack and binding at a Crafting Bench train identically. A failed binding still teaches you โ€” the pages were spent either way.
